22-23 (Powdered Whiskers)

They are ascending a staircase? The stairway to hellven?

FINALLY! AN END GOAL? Koroviev says "we shall turn it on only at the very last, an believe me, then there will be light enough." These are exciting terms, as we finally see that perhaps they have an objective? "The very last?" and that "there will be light enough", whatever that means.

Why on earth is the Devil holding a ball? That just reminds me of South Park..and more relevantly, why must his date be called Margarita?

As I mentioned in my last post: you've got to love these motley crew of evil creatures! They're so witty and seemingly not evil. The Tom is almost CUTE!

Woland calls the Margarita "Donna". Interesting. Like THE madonna? This would support the margarita being some type of Mary.

The margarita is given a diamond crown. Is this another of the triangles? And she's also given a large portrait of a poodle (a reference back to the devilish poodle)

There are "negroes" in the ballroom, who are walking around excited for the ball. It seems like this is just a racist thing that the Negroes are in this hellish ballroom, but I don't think that's particularly relevant in my analysis past this mention.

Behemoth is actually described as "warm and shaggy". He's meant to be evil isn't he? I really don't see that. And those adjectives do not connote evil...

However, it seems truly as if the guests that arrive ARE people who have died and are going to hell. Then why do they ASCEND this staircase? Is it that God is no longer and the Devil rules both heaven and hell in this atheist nation? Also all the women who arrive at the party are naked. It really seems as if female nudity is associated with evil

The fact that one of the bands is made up completely of monkeys is interesting, although why I'm not sure.

Importantly, the devil drinks the blood of one of his guests, who he takes to betray him. I'm really seeing a Lord Voldemort in him...then he makes the Margarita drink it. And once he has drunken from the goblet, he is transfigured into a smartly dressed man (like the unicorn blood in the first Harry potter..)
