24-25 (Powdered Whiskers)

So, in 24, the devil essentially tries to make sure rhetoric the margarita and the master live happily ever after! He uses his limitless power (which is really shown to be limitless in this chapter) to change reality for their benefit, and gives them everything they need to be happy. This is because the margarita does not ask anything of him. In a way, he is reaffirming morals here, which makes him truly good and bad. Following that vein of thought: he explains to all the people he has captured what they have done wrong and kicks them out. This is "merciful" and also shows that he is working for good. The master is sort of spaced-out most of the time...

In chapter 25, the storm rages as Pilate watches, and he talks to a guest "Aphranius", who is head of the secret service but seems to have greater power. Even the power to silence the head priest. So anyway the procurator decides to try to save Yehudah from a premonition he has had of his death (although it seems unlikely that that will come to pass, as it is fated). Pilate also returns a small sum of money to the procurator that he borrowed from him earlier. This shows good will along with his effort to save this man from the killing in his premonition.
